We found the club in a very difficult situation: the balance after a year in office

António Miguel Cardoso, current president of Vitória SC, celebrated his first birthday this Sunday at the head of the Victorian emblem and, in statements to the club’s official channels, took stock.  

Currently in 5th place in the championship and with the club’s financial situation more relieved, thanks to the agreement with the partner VSports, the manager from Guimarães recalled the point at which he found the club, after being elected with 62.5 percent of the votes to 5 March 2022. 

«We found the club in a very difficult situation, without major sources of income. There were a series of debts to pay, starting with the payment of Mário Ferreira’s shares, and the previous management had already spent the anticipated 20 million euros on television revenues and, therefore, we had to negotiate the passes of some players, at the same time relieving the salary sheet of professional teams», he began by saying, highlighting the importance of the new partner.    

«Thanks to the entry of the new partner of Vitória SC [V Sports], which received wide approval from the associates, we will be able to keep most of our athletes and tackle indispensable works in our Academy and in Estádio D. Afonso Henriques. Gradually, the club begins to rise to occupy a prominent position in Portuguese football, and even in Europe, and we will not stop here», he added.  “I want to raise the name and symbol of this club very high. This is my mission », he concluded.
