A goal is the manifestation of an intention in you. It is an internal voice that says: “This is what I want, I am good at this.” We all have these intentions within us but they do not manifest into actions until we give them form. This is why you need to pay attention to what your goals actually are before you start trying to chase after them. Once you give them form you will know exactly what to do in order to achieve them.

A goal in life can be many things and may vary from person to person. A goal may be achieving something concrete such as winning the lottery or purchasing a house. Other goals may be helping a friend or family member through a difficult time. Or maybe you just want to see the outside of the box while living your life and seeing what happens after that. Whatever the case may be, having a goal in life will help keep you motivated and focused on what needs to be done in order to get there.

A goal in life is something that you want to achieve. We can think of goals as things that point us toward some ideal or realm of achievement. In this Guide, I want to explain what goals are, how to choose the best goals for yourself, how you can achieve any goal, and how you can celebrate your successes. I’ll also lay out a framework for thinking about goals in a new way using a probabilistic framework instead of a static one.

Maybe not. You would want to look for ways to get it to move or change position. This is exactly how we should view goals in life. To have a healthy and happy life, you need to have goals. Goals are things that you want to accomplish in this life. They give meaning and focus to your actions. A goal is different than a desire or a wish. In pursuit of a goal, we put in time and effort. We may use the money to get there if it’s expedient, but most goals are attainable without spending large amounts of money.

I’m often asked what my goal in life is. 

  • My answer: To live a life full of joy and meaning, with the potential to achieve great things. I know that many of you share this goal, and I admire your ability to persevere in the face of uncertainty. But I also know that sometimes—particularly at the start of a new position or career—it can be hard to know exactly where you want to go. What actions will get you to those goals? It’s helpful to think about your goals in terms of benefits. For example, if you want to raise your net worth by 50% at some point in the future, you’d be thinking about benefits — getting more money, more recognition, etc.
Aim to better align your personal and professional goals. Goals focus your energy and creativity towards specific outcomes. To make good on your personal goals requires that you work in alignment with your career goals.  As you emerge from each phase of your career, look back at the years of work and progress that helped you achieve those personal goals and reflect on how you might have used your acquired skills in different ways had you not had those opportunities

Goal setting is the process of creating specific goals for yourself and evaluating your performance toward those goals. With Pokémon Go, goal setting has become paramount. This is because the more you walk around your office, the more Pokémon (and other things) you’ll encounter. These encounters could lead you to learn more about a subject you’re interested in or just keep you occupied from time to time.
